Overview
COVID Care at JSS
The SARS-COVID 19 pandemic which has the world in its clutches for over a year and a half now has reached the rural tribal belt of Chhattisgarh, especially the forest and forest fringe villages where our work is based. The national lockdown in 2020 had had the rural poor population fall into a downward spiral of poverty with loss of daily wages, scarcity of food grains, and unavailability of basic and urgent healthcare services.
In view of the pandemic and the risks it has posed for the entire health care system across the country, it is imperative to offer regular, reliable healthcare services both at a primary and secondary level. With most of the government facilities, which are already short staffed, overwhelmed by COVID patients, and restricting their services to Covid care, it is incumbent upon organisations like ours to continue providing non Covid care parallelly, uninterrupted.
Owing to the rise in the number of Covid cases this year, alongside our usual care for chronic and acute illnesses, we have furthered our COVID relief services to provide full-fledged rational and affordable care to these marginalised people who are but mere victims of their socio-economic condition. Our teams, both in Chhattisgarh as well as Madhya Pradesh, are trained to identify and facilitate care in the villages and referring and treating the serious cases at a hospital level.
