Partnering with government facilities

COVID CARE AT OTHER CENTERS FACILITATED BY JSS

JSS has been advocating for home isolation of COVID suspects in the villages with monitoring by ASHAs (frontline workers). These ASHAs would be supported by their supervisors – the ANMs and CHOs (at the health and wellness centres). Any patients who have red-flag signs are called to a facility at the Block level to be examined by a doctor. Those requiring admission are currently being referred to the district facilities that are stretched. JSS has been actively involved in advocating for and now training personnel for Block level COVID facilities that will provide beds with Oxygen. Those who are only moderately hypoxic and have no co-morbidities can be managed here. Protocols for admission, care and discharge have been developed and training of government staff is underway. We are also in the process of making an App that can be used by both trained health workers i.e. ASHAs and ANMs as well as volunteers with basic training to identify pneumonia/COVID in the villages. It will also be advocated to the government once the app is ready along with availability of pulse oximeters for ASHAs in all villages.
